Fun Car with Real People Appeal - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By jqd100 - May 26 - 9:33 pmWe have a fully optioned GT with inferno red exterior, tan interior and tan top. We decided on PT because wife liked comfort of high seating positon. This car attracts more attention than any car I have owned. We didnt buy it for that reason, but has turned out that way. Kids to the elderly are fascinated by it. I am amazed how people will go out of their way to talk to us about the car. Nearly all conversations end with them saying: "I bet you have fun in that car" We do! We live in central Florida and the top is nearly always down. The car has given us no problems, initial quality was good. We have had a good dealership experience. Of course, it is a small town dealer we know.

By CINDY - March 19 - 5:43 pmI just purchased the pt turbbo conv cruiser .....Fun to drive good looking sports car feel . Has a nice punch with the turbo ..Only two complaints i have are the lack of ability to get into the trunk without bending down really low ...And the seats are a tad bit shallow in the front could be about 3 inches more in length other than that its a cool car and we love it !

By Jeff - October 3 - 5:50 pmThis is my first PT. I have wanted one since inception and finally got it. I love the uniqueness about this car. Although they really need to address the fuel economy issue and engine size, other than that the car performs very well. I would also like to see the crash test results as I have three children that love to ride in it. The interior has amazing headroom and legroom, although controls for the rear windows need to be placed elsewhere. Storage space is large for grocery runs. I have checked online for add-ons and found literally hundreds of different things that I can "trick" out my PT to make it even more unique. I would definitely purchase another when this one wears out.

By Fun seeker - September 15 - 5:43 pmLots of fun! affordable! I bought mine used-20k for 15k. I thought it was most fun I can buy for the price. love neo-classic desgin. My first convertible-I always wanted one. Love sitting position as it is higher than most passenger cars. Interior size is perfect-as big as some midsize cars. Back seats are great-You can actually sit in them! Interior design good. Stereo is not very good but it serves its purpose. Car drives ok-not as smooth as other compact cars I have driven. Turbo is fun! Exterior size is compact so easy to control execpt for the blind spots with top up. Insurance cost is very high-about 35% more than my 2001 Altima. Gas mileage- low 20s city/hwy combined

Poor design for the front bumper - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By wendy - September 11 - 5:40 amI just love the car....but the front bumper keeps bottoming out. I am tired of replacing it and being told there is nothing that can be done about the low profile. I am really surprised that there seems to be little concern from other owners about this problem.

Safety in a small car - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Carolyn - August 11 - 7:40 pmThis is a small car with good fuel economy. Totally fun to drive around town especially to zip into small spaces where other vehicles cannot park. The freeway I feel is a scary proposition. My concern is the size and I have not been able to find any web sites that list the PT Cruiser for a crash rating. When you are sitting behind the steering wheel of the Cruiser the dash appears to be 18" to 2 in front of you, but the hood looks like it is only extended about 8" beyond that. Kinda scary. I realize it is the optics that give that impression, but I feel I deserve to feel safe in my car. Putting this car in cruise control is awkward as is having the gas tank on the right side.

By garcande - June 25 - 9:59 amI recently purchased a beautiful 05 Cruiser Touring Convertible with only 26,000 one owner miles. I bought it from the local Lexus dealer who said it was a trade in. It looks immaculate and garage kept. I had driven about 1000 miles when the electric top riser went out. I took it to my mechanic, he tinkered around with it, but said it wasnt his area of expertise and he was going on vacation. The next day the air conditioner went out. I took it to another mechanic and it was the compressor, of course, and cost $1200 to fix. By contrast, the air on my 96 VW just went at 15K miles! And, I still havent fixed the top. By Barnum - June 4 - 12:16 amVeh has great functionality, very comfortable for four adults. 4 cyl w/auto is spunky. Most always can be configurable for whatever I need to carry. However, even when I really try I cant get better than 20 mpg city, and have never gotten over 22 on the highway. Thats pitiful for a 4 cyl engine. RAV-4 will probebly be next car- too bad, because I really like driving the Cruiser...
